CSL notes

Getting an effective PC going takes time and effort.  The PC provides an opportunity for the Cub Scouts to learn new skills that will help them as they move onto the next section.  They will learn how to facilitate a discussion, how to record the meeting, plan and organise activities and finally understand the importance of the Review process.

Some other reasons for running regular PCs include:

  • a better and more interesting / varied program
  • sharing the decision making, organisation and work
  • more engaged Cub Scouts and therefore retention
  • buy in from the Cub Scouts to ideas, translating into support of the program and attendance
  • the chance to get to know the Sixers and Seconds really well
  • the opportunity to teach and develop new skills, including leadership
  • the time and opportunity to cover tricky issues like discipline
  • a way to reward the Sixers for their hard work – a special activity just for the PC
